About

Published by ravyn

Erika Hoagland (Ravyn to her associates) has been roleplaying for seven years and writing stories nearly all her life. She currently puts both skills to work as a fluff-writer for Victorious Press, an independent tabletop game design company.  She can be reached at odell_ariranha at yahoo dot com.

Exchange of Realities is an attempt to bring the worlds of table-top roleplaying and writing closer together by illustrating techniques usable in both formats.  These tips are designed to cultivate immersion, minimize interference with suspension of disbelief, and make the worlds we create more real, colorful and engaging.

Hello Ravyn, thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving me inspiring words. It is very much appreciated. You write very well, though I may not be able to relate to a lot of your posts :( , sadly, but defintely the choice of words and the presentation of thoughts are superb that someone like me can learn more about writing and presenting thoughts. More power to you and well wishes.

Welcome, and glad you can make it. Don’t worry too much about the comprehension; most of my stuff tends to be at least as writing-applicable as gaming-applicable (substitute “author” for “GM” and “audience” for players, and any writer can get use out of most of them), and I do try to keep the jargon to a minimum.

I did. Both sets, then one set, then realized it looked better with both sets. Or at least, as better as it was going to look.

I love video RPGs like Elder scrolls Morrowind, Oblivion, etc. and old school RPGs like Krondor, but I’ve never played any table-top, Dungeons and Dragon’s stuff. I wonder if I’d like it or if it would make me tired from all the creating.

Don’t worry, Yolander, it grows on you. Particularly when you’ve got a group that’s strong on feedback; there’s nothing quite like stepping away from a session with everyone going “WOW.” Makes it all worth it.

    Hi Ravyn,

Stopped by to show some love, thanks for stopping by and checking out my ugly bridesmaids dresses. I gave you a Digg because you have some great items for gamers!

Thanks for the comment on my blog. Of course you can use my photos as reference photos. You really didn’t need to ask — if you’re just LOOKING at them, that’s not regulated. I’d love to see any drawings you make :)

Great articles, I agree with someone above me, I may not understand most of it, not much of a gamer here, but I can get the gist if I replace the words..lol

Thanks for stopping by my blog often! I love to read your blog, but I never know how to comment on the individual posts as they seem so complete already!
